The quarter officially ends on March 16. Holy crap! This week I got to register for Spring Quarter. I get to do the last 4 fashion classes plus Design II (drawing, unfortunately, had a wait list for the M/W days). In all of my current classes, we have started on our finals.  In styling, we're doing a fairytale photoshoot. My group has decided on Romeo and Juliet.  In History, we are doing a "notebook" where we choose three modern fashions that are inspired by every civilization we study in this class.  In English, the final essay is on a current epidemic and mine will be on vaping. I'm the only one in my group, but hey, at least my essay will be unique. I'm allowed to do 101 work (I'm in a transition class where you can get full credits for 99 or 5 credits for 101) so my essay has to be around 900 words. This will be the longest essay I've ever written. So much work, but I hope it's all worth it! I'm looking forward to break. I wan

Exciting news!

I got a job!   Unfortunately, it is not fashion based, but it is animal related and it's money. It's been almost 5 months since I've had a job (I no longer wanted to be a CNA) so when I got a message about someone needing farm help, I jumped at the chance. Today was my first day and it was kind of intense. I had to relearn how to milk a goat and managed to get a bit too much milk on me. I almost had a panic attack going up a hill that had a patch of ice. I probably won't be doing too much this weekend or next week due to a snow storm coming. I took this screenshot at around noon and I swear the app has been changing every couple hours. We're expected to get around 8-9 inches this weekend. Might not have school next week! . . . Speaking of school, I had my styling midterm today (I also passed the exam we did last week). I was worried I'd do bad, but my "client" and my teacher both loved it so yay. For the project, we had to partner up

Highlight of the Week

This week has been both eh and super great. Wednesday was AMAZING! I love my teacher. She has been such an inspiration and she inadvertently motivates me. I definitely look up to her. I actually enjoy going to class now. Last Friday, she was able to pull me out of a dark place in my mind (I have anxiety disorders). I'm a private person so crying in front of someone due to mental illness is a big no-no in my mind. She was one of the lucky rare to see that side of me. We got to talking and I find out she loves fashion! No wonder she has a great fashion sense. Since the beginning of the quarter, I really only wore my homemade clothes for my fashion classes. I liked wearing lazy clothes (aka jeans or sweats with a hoodie) since I only have one class that day and I generally go straight home. On Tuesday, I decided I would start wearing more homemade stuff to my odd days class. I wore overalls (at least I call them overalls, the pattern calls them a jumpsuit) I made from a vinta

Who is this crazy sewer?

Hello blog readers! Welcome to the crazy ramblings of a fashionista college student. This here blog I plan to post about college life, my sewing projects, my crafts, and my business. A little about me: My name is Manda and I'm almost the big 3-0! Boy I feel old! Everyone thinks I'm somewhere between 18 and 24 when they first see me. I'm currently working on my associate degree focusing on Fashion Marketing. I plan on transferring to a university in my state once I'm done at my community college. I want to focus on apparel and textiles. My ultimate goal in life is to become a costume designer tho the textile industry might be a close second. When it comes to sewing, I do mostly clothes. I have a very large collection of vintage patterns most of which are from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. One of my goals this year is to learn how to draft and make custom patterns. My crafting adventures include making jewelry, knitting, crochet, and spinning. I do own my own business and I
